The MUAH! Beauty Commandmentssimple rules to follow to better treat / advance your natural beauty.

MUAH!'s General Skin Care Tips

Protect your skin from premature lines and wrinkles. We all know this rule, but love to rebel against it. Always wear an SPF 15 or higher sunscreen. If you dislike the consistency of sunscreen opt for a foundation or moisturizer with sunscreen already in it. Don't forget your lips too! Your lips are the most vulnerable area and are most prone to sun damage.

Take Your Makeup Off Every Night.Start by using a good eye makeup remover. Make sure to remove gently. Tugging and pulling at the eye can cause fine lines/wrinkles. Not to mention irritated/sore eyes! Follow up by removing the rest of your face makeup with a good face wash, toner, & moisturizer.

Protect Your Makeup From Germs.Never share your makeup unless you're willing to do it Makeup Artist style and wipe each product down with rubbing alchohol before and after use. If you notice an eye infection, discard all products used on the eye while infected. The same rule applies to lipsticks/lip glosses if you get a cold sore.

Take Care of The Evil That is Acne.If you are struggling with acne, I'm sure you'll already have a cleansing ritual you perform every night right before you go to bed. Take it a step further and apply a spot treatment before applying your moisturizer or foundation during the day. Believe it or not, It'll still fight off that pimple!

Always, Always, Wash your Makeup Brushes. This commandment goes together with "Protect Your Makeup From Germs". Bacteria lives and grows in brushes after a period of time when they aren't disinfected. If you never wash your brushes this can be a contribution to clogged pores/acne. For a fast brush cleanse, Disinfect by swirling each brush in a cup of rubbing alchohol. Squeeze out all excess alchohol and lay out to dry. For a more effective brush cleanse, wash with a shampoo you have in your tub. Wet the brush head and later until satisfied. Rinse until water runs clear. Then, lay out brushes to dry.

If you only have 2 minutes, Choose a mascara and a lipstick.Choose a volumizing mascara will promise a desired density and will makes eyes appear bigger, better and brighter. Follow up with a quick swipe of a pink colored lipstick or gloss and you'll automatically appear pulled together.

If you don't have 2 minutes, do the Mary Kate & Ashley.Find the biggest pair of sunglasses that you have and throw them on. The sunglasses will protect those naked eyes of yours and cover up the fact your sleepy & just woke up. This is my cardinal rule for coffee runs in the AM.

Don't Forget While Traveling. We get so overwhelmed while traveling and forget about basics when it comes to skin care. Flying can/will dry out your skin. To prevent your skin from becoming dehydrated while flying to your desitination, apply a face cream and lip balm before boarding the plane. Drink lots of water and stay away from alchohol and salt to ensure hydration.

MUAH!'s Face Makeup Musts

Go For a Yellow Toned Concealer. Some of us have a pink skin tone and some of us have a yellow skin tone. No matter what skin tone, always lean towards a yellow toned concealer. It will cancel out any red or purple tones in blemishes/under eyes and will complement everyone.

Apply In Layers. When using a concealer to conceal blemishes, never swipe and wipe across your face. Not only will this contribute to fine lines/wrinkles but you can't expect it to do it's job if you're wiping it all over. Always tap, tap, tap until blemish is camouflaged. Then, follow up with a foundation of choice and/or face powder.

Always Seal The Deal. There's always a personal preference on what kind of face makeup to wear. Whether it's liquid or cream, always seal the deal with a sweep of a translucent powder ( or a face powder). This will help set and seal in your face makeup and help prevent oil from developing

MUAH!'s Eye Makeup Essentials

Use A Lash Curler.Make sure to use a lash curler before you apply your mascara. It gives your lashes the extra curl that mascaras can't and opens up the lashes for an easier mascara application.

Be Patient With Your Eye Pencil.Until you've mastered applying eye liner perfectly with one stroke, be patient! Create your line with short strokes until you get the line you desire.

You Wouldn't Fist Pump. So,  Don't Mascara Pump. Pumping your mascara wand might get some extra mascara on the wand, but it will also dry out your mascara fast. Instead, insert the wand, swirl, and apply.

Get Rid of the Eyeliner/Mascara From Last Night.Grab a cotton swab and dab it in some eye makeup remover. Wipe along lashes until clean. Remember, Be gentle!

Use Your Foundation as a Base.Apply your foundation on lids before applying your eye shadow. This will keep shadow on longer and work as a primer to prevent the eye shadow from creasing.

MUAH!'s Lip Tricks

Exfoliate your lips.Exfoliate your lips with your toothbrush and/or a clean one you don't use. You'll notice a more smooth and clean surface to apply your lipstick/gloss on.

Please, No Brown Lip Liner. When in doubt, select a lip liner that matches your nautral lip shade. A lip liner is meant to prevent feathering and to frame the pretty picture that is your lips. It's not meant to create a statement.

Plump your lips.Line your lips with a skin tone matched lip liner and go just above your natural lip line. You'll begin to notice that your lips look more full. Once satisfied with your shape, apply a lipstick or gloss of your choice. For extra plump, apply a gloss lip plumper.

Misc.

Protect Your Brushes.Sharing is caring but not when it comes to your brushes. When you share your brushes with someone else, this can transfer their skin oils to your skin and vise versa. If you choose to share your brushes, be sure to cleanse thoroughly before and after use.
